The Angel Public House is a locally listed building occupying a prominent corner position in Stratford, with a characterful Tudor-revival facade that had fallen into serious disrepair. The scheme converts the existing building into eight apartments while adding two new-build houses on land to the rear, unlocking the full development potential of the site without compromising the pub's distinctive street presence.
The design takes the building's heritage as its starting point. The facade is restored and enhanced throughout, with the timber-frame detailing, corner turret and original proportions all preserved. The new houses sit to the rear in a complementary red brick, their pitched zinc rooflines stepping down from the retained building to form a coherent composition that reads well from the street.
